Nature's Prophecy

Dark stood on top of the mountainous terrain. He was a black and dark red colored wolf. He overlooked the land. His scars began to heal from his previous fight for domination. He looked at his new pack he had to lead. The males that would try to kill him for leadership. The females that he one day would have to choose for a mate. The pups he had to protect. All the mouths he had to feed now. It was a different feeling. Never before had he felt the need of so much responsibility. Yet, he was the right leader for them. He was the Alpha, and he had to accept that.

"And so, begins my journey." Dark said aloud to himself.

A lone howl fills the air , it was a female wolf. Her fur was the color of dark green and dark gray. She howled on another rock far away. Dark turned. His eyes met the vixen's and he was taken by the wolf's beauty. The wolf saw him and jumped down. Dark followed her.

The dark green wolf walked to a field another younger wolves ran up next to the wolf as they began to play and have fun. Dark just stared. He wasn't one for emotions or play anymore now that he was an Alpha. He watched as the young ones played and enjoyed themselves. The Aplha female, who awas the dark green and dark gray wolf, watched from a rock and watched Dark. She growled at him as she walked over to him and got in front of her pack. Dark stared at the vixen Alpha. He snarled back and stood his ground. He made no threatening moves but was ready to protect himself if need be. The vixen kept growling as a sign to not mess around. Dark held his head high. He was trying to show the vixen he meant no harm. He stood tall and pushed out his chest. He was sizing her up if they did fight. The female Alpha was about his size then turned and left with a snort as the alpha walked and a puppy came out of nowhere jumping on the Alpha , nibbling the Alpha's ear.

Dark couldn't help but smile. "I guess you lead your pack well, Miss."

"I do. What is your name stranger?" the wolf asked as she was laying down looking up at him while the puppy was nibbling her ear

"My pack calls me Dark. They give name to each new leader they get." Dark said. "Might I ask what your name is?"

"My name is Cal." the wolf replied.

"Nice to meet you." Dark replied.

"So, Dark where is your pack?" asked Cal.

"Just over the hilltop." Dark says and points with his nose.

Cal sniffed the air "Well as long as you don't steal food from us we will be fine."

"You will not have that problem with us. We hunt everyday to get fresh meat. If you need extra rations we have plenty from our last kill." Dark said

"Thank you but we are alright." said Cal.

It was getting dark as the sun set, Cal walked over to a group of different colored wolves and they all laid down together in the field staring up at the full moon. Dark nodded at her when she left and headed back to his pack. He found a spot to rest on the rock he had stood on.

The next day Dark was still resting, and the sound of deer running filled the forest as well as wolf growls. Dark woke up seeing Cal's pack attacking a huge male deer. Dark stood watch his pack gathered in behind him.

"Who's that?" a dark gray wolf asked.

"That is Cal. Alpha Female of her pack" Dark responded

The rather big pack of the green wolves and a few other colored wolves were surrounding the deer, as the male deer went to rear up, Cal jumped biting its neck then everyone attacked at once.

"A very nice kill." the dark gray wolf said.

"It was highly impressive." said dark brown wolf.

The wolves began eating and a male dark green wolf with white walked over to Cal and licked her forehead .

"Good job Cal." said The male.

"Thanks Reed." said Cal as she smiled then began to eat with the rest of the pack.

Dark stared at the pack before, he and his hunters finally turned to start their own hunt.

Cal's pack was done eating and Dark noticed them leaving only bones behind of the deer . The wolves walked to the river . A gun shot filled the air as the wolves were looking around seeing humans across the river hunting deer, the wolves laid down in the reeds watching the humans hunt.

One of the humans looked and saw Cal.

"This one is goin' on my wall guys!" He pointed his gun at Cal.

Dark watched. He snarled and jumped on the man. He slashed at him with his paws and bit at his face. The man tried to fight back but Dark moved the gun away. Then the man stabbed Dark in the side with his hunting knife. Dark yelped as the man got up and ran off.

"Let's get out of here! This wolf is a psycho!" the man said with blood running down his face.

He and the other hunters got in their trucks and drove off.

Dark laid there. Wounded. His wolves gathered around him.

Cal walked over and put her nose against him, she was praying. Cal walked over to leafs then ripped it out of the ground. Cal walked over and put the leaf on him then she tucked it around him .

"This should help stop the bleeding " said Cal as she was pouring water on him to clean the wound .

Reed and five other wolves ran off after telling Cal they were going to get help. As Reed ran off with the other wolves, but they weren't going to get help, they were going to kill the humans.

"W-Why are you... helping... uhh... me?" Dark asked

Dark's pack turned to get the other wolves and tell them what happened.

"Shh don't talk...The reason why, is because i can." said Cal as she was getting more herbs and putting them on him.

After a hour Dark was rather better then he was , and William, a gray dark green wolf, came running as a bit of blood was on him. William told Cal that Reed and the others went to go attack the humans but now are in danger and need her help .

Dark tried to sit up but his wound hurt him.

"Ah!... bad idea..." he said to himself.

He turned to one of Cal's wolves. "Can you send a word to a wolf in my pack?...Ow... a black wolf called Tsal. Tell him he... needs to get everyone ready to leave... Tell them 'I know Dark'... uhh... They won't attack you." Dark said

"Go West. Bree, Oz go with him. Dustin, Maggie, and Malcolm stay here with Dark, i am going to go help Reed." said Cal

Dustin was the medical wolf and helped Dark, Cal and William ran off while. A magenta wolf, a wolf with tan and red, and a wolf with maroon and white ran off to go tell Dark's pack what happened.

Dark looked at Cal's wolves. "Why does your Alpha help me?"

" Because she does that, we don't know why." said Dustin as he was working on Dark. "She has a good heart but sometimes it leads her into great danger."

Dark laid his head down he was tired. Then Tsal ran next to them. Cal's wolves had told him what had happened to Dark.

"Boy, what did you get yourself into this time?" Tsal asked

"I was... helping their Alpha." Dark replied.

Tsal sighed. "You're the Alpha. I respect your desicion. But you might get killed next time you do this."

"Yeah i have to agree with him , you will endanger your pack " said West .

After 3 hours passed , Cal came back blood all over her fur and she walked down into the water and got cleaned.

"What happened to you?" Tsal asked.

Cal didn't say a word as she finished cleaning her self then she walked away with heavy paws , she walked up to a rock and laid down on it and cried. Her pack was very worried then they smelt death and all lowered their head as they knew Reed and the others had died. Cal let out a sorrowful howl and sad howls as tears rolled down.

At night Dark finally got enough strength to stand and limp. He limped over to Cal's rock.

"Ma'am are you alright?" Dark asked.

Cal was laying down and had her head low .

"No...how are your wounds?" asked Cal wanting to change the subject.

"I'm fine. Don't worry about me." Dark said. He laid down on his good side.

"It is going to hurt for a few days " said Cal as she raised her head and looked at him.

"I know. It hurts when I get scars. I just don't pay them any mind. I mean look at my eyes. Both of them are scared. I'm lucky I can still see." Dark said and lifted his head towards her so she could see the scars on his face.

Cal looked at him ,she had a deep wound across her neck it was red and the fur was off .

"I can tell , I just tried to protect my family but it gotten harder with theses darn humans around " said Cal.

"The humans are like us." He said noticing the scar. "They hunt for food and sport."

"I wish they would just all die and leave us in peace." said Cal with a slight growl.

"I understand your anger. The humans have been getting closer to my pack everyday with their hunting of deer. One of my hunters was killed and half my pack left me because of them." Dark replied. He laid his head down on a soft patch of grass.

"I am sorry for your lost " said Cal as she looked up at the bright moon. "Soon my pack and I will have to leave this place , maybe go up north , try to get to the land of snow and leave all this behind us " said Cal.

"Funny. I was thinking the same thing. There are fewer humans up north. I hear that the animals there are tougher to kill though." Dark said.

"That is what I heard, but we can handle it. My pack and I hunt together as one. Sometimes we even finish the other one's sentence when we talk." said Cal with a small laugh.

"Really? Hmm... well I am still new at bein' an Alpha. I need to get used to all this responsibility." Dark said.

"Just be warned being new you can get your pack in danger , be careful were you say and do " said Cal as she rested her head down.

"Yeah. I kind figured that. But I think I'm better than the last Alpha we had. He was plain out mean. He hated the pups and killed wolves that even looked at him wrong. Don't even get me started on what he did to the vixens." Dark said

"I bet, Reed was our main Alpha. I was the second, I usually did the most while Reed backed off. Now that he is dead, I am main Alpha " said Cal

"Maybe we could help each other? Join packs?" Dark suggested

"I would ask your pack what they think," said Cal "but I rather like the idea ". Then she began to fall sleep

"I'll ask them..." Dark yawned "in the..."

Dark tries to finish his sentence, but falls asleep due to his injury.

Cal softly smiled then she fell asleep.
